What we have been up to in Geelong
June 2024 – the Better Together Conference
On 15 June 2024, Nicholes Family Lawyers hosted a panel titled ‘’What makes a family – is it the law, science, love – or all of that and more?” at the Better Together conference, an annual national event hosted by The Equality Project.
The panel delved into topics related to Assisted Reproductive Technology, including the surrogacy process, and the medical, psychological, financial, and legal challenges of starting a family. It also covered how intended parents can prepare for parenthood and approach conversations about unique family structures.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Equality Project, all attendees and our panellists, whose engagement was crucial to the event’s success. Read more here.

December 2023 – Geelong High School
Nicholes Family Lawyers Partner Nadine Udorovic and Senior Associate Brent Astle presented to Geelong High School about the management and handling of separated families within a child’s school environment.
Teachers and other school staff spend a lot of time looking after a child’s wellbeing, and a child from a separated family can often require an extra layer of care and attention to ensure the child and the family feel supported. If a school is not prepared for this situation it can lead to extra challenges and pressure for everyone involved.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Geelong High School for having us present on this important family and education topic. Read more here.
