Alastair joined Nicholes in 2017 after completing the Juris Doctor degree at Monash University. Alastair has also completed undergraduate and post graduate studies in psychology prior to undertaking legal training.
Before joining Nicholes, Alastair gained valuable experience in family and children’s law through employment with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services within the Child Protection program. Through this Alastair has an extensive history of working with children and families at risk of harm, as well as victims of family and sexual violence. He is experienced in working with clients of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal families and those newly arrived to Australia.
Alastair also gained experience preparing legal materials required for hearings in the Melbourne Children’s Court and promoting the rights of a child in family law proceedings.
Alastair understands that relationship breakdowns and family separation can be amongst the most difficult times for a family. As such Alastair prides himself on understanding that each client’s situation as different, and will need a unique approach to best meet his client’s needs. Alastair is aware that the voices of children are often lost in court proceedings, and strives to bring these to the forefront where possible.
